Quick Recap | Sept. Board of Trustees Meeting

Hello Team,

While this week’s Board of Trustees meeting was relatively uneventful, I wanted to share a brief update and highlight a few items that may be of interest. If you’d like to view the full meeting, you can watch it here.

A few highlights that may be of particular interest:

  • We welcomed Penny Henke to the Board of Trustees. She is a St. Charles County appointee replacing Renee Tillman whose term expired at the end of July. We’re excited to have Penny join us and thank Renee for her service over the past five years.
  • The trustees approved our proposed tax rate for FY26 which has been set at $0.1668 per $100 valuation.
  • We shared our 2025 State of the Library, offering an overview of our current status, the challenges we’re facing, and the actions we’re taking moving forward. I encourage you to review it and reach out to me should you have any questions.

  • We were also pleased to share that we were selected to participate in the 2025 Library Journal Design Institute challenge. Our Kathryn Linnemann Branch was chosen to explore how we can better utilize the space available at this location. Heads up, the slide deck is very detailed but definitely provides inspiration.

  • The Board of Trustees also elected officers for the upcoming year:

    • Matthew Seeds, President
    • Justin Collier, Vice President
    • Buddy Hardin, Treasurer
    • Cindy Giordano, Secretary

And lastly—way to go! September’s goal was 1,000 new library cards, and you didn’t just reach it—you smashed it with 1,547!

I’m so proud of you and to be part of this amazing team—many branches, one unstoppable Library!
